The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in Inwood.
The man was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Sheridan Boulevard in the vicinity of Nassau Avenue.
He's now been identified as Queens resident Patrick Sean Mwesigwa, age 44, of Far Rockaway.
A 35-year-old man who was driving the Explorer remained at the scene.
The pedestrian suffered severe trauma and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by a hospital physician.
No further injuries were reported.
